In Plain English

  • We do not sell your data. We do not run targeted ads based on personal profiles or sell personal information.
  • We do not scan your address book. You manually enter only the contacts you want to alert.
  • Alerts are conditional. Your contacts are only notified if you miss a scheduled check-in and your grace period expires.
  • You control your data. You can edit or request deletion of your account and data.

1. Who we are

Welcome to Demumuu (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Demumuu provides a safety check-in service designed to offer peace of mind by notifying your trusted contacts if you fail to check in on your schedule after your chosen grace period.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our mobile application and website.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information you provide to us

We collect information you directly enter into the app to make the service work:

  • Account & Schedule Settings: Your check-in schedule preferences (e.g., daily at 9:00 AM) and alert thresholds (e.g., wait 24 hours after a missed check-in before sending an alert).
  • Trusted Contacts: The names and email addresses of the people you wish to notify. Note: We do not automatically access, scrape, or upload your device’s full contact list. You manually add these details.
  • Emergency Note (Optional): An optional message that is included only in the alert email sent to your trusted contacts if an alert is triggered.

B. Consent regarding third-party data

By adding Trusted Contacts, you confirm that you have obtained permission and consent from those individuals to share their name and email address with us for the sole purpose of sending safety alerts if you miss a check-in.

C. Automatically collected information

  • Check-in & Alert Activity: We record timestamps of your check-ins and alert events (e.g., when an alert is triggered and when an email is sent) to operate the service.
  • Device & Log Data: Like most apps, we collect limited technical logs for debugging and security, which may include device type, operating system version, IP address, app version, and crash logs.

D. Analytics (Optional)

We may use privacy-focused tools for app stability (e.g., crash reporting). We do not use third-party analytics for behavioral advertising.

3. How We Use Information

We use information for specific, functional purposes:

  • To operate the check-in service and monitor your schedule.
  • To send automated email alerts to your Trusted Contacts only when you miss a check-in and your grace period expires.
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, criminal activity, or misuse of our services.
  • To maintain the security and technical reliability of our infrastructure.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use trusted vendors to provide services such as cloud hosting (to securely store your settings) and email delivery (to send alerts). These vendors are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or subpoena).
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to ongoing protections consistent with this policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law.

  • Account Data: Your schedule, trusted contacts, and emergency note are stored until you delete them or delete your account.
  • Logs: Technical logs may be retained for a limited period (often 30–90 days) for security and debugging, then deleted or anonymized.

You may request deletion of your account and data through in-app settings (if available) or by contacting us.

6. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We recommend you secure your mobile device with a passcode or biometric lock to prevent unauthorized access to your app settings.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include:

  • Access & Correction: You can view and edit your schedule, contacts, and notes within the app.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account via in-app settings (if available) or contact us to request deletion.
  • Stop Alerts: You can disable or pause your schedule to stop future safety alerts.

For U.S. residents: We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Children’s Privacy

Demumuu is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.

9. International Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Data protection laws may differ by jurisdiction. By using our services, you understand that we may transfer information across borders and will take reasonable measures to protect it.

10. Important Safety Notice

Demumuu is NOT an emergency service.

  • We do not contact 911 or local emergency authorities.
  • Alert delivery depends on factors outside our control, such as your device battery, internet connectivity, and email service providers.
  • If you are in immediate danger or have a medical emergency, do not rely on this app—call your local emergency services immediately.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. You should review this page periodically for changes.
