Print / SaveIn Plain English
- We do not sell your data. We do not run targeted ads based on personal profiles or sell personal information.
- We do not scan your address book. You manually enter only the contacts you want to notify.
- Alerts are conditional. Your contacts are only notified if you miss a check-in and your grace period (threshold) expires.
- Optional messages may be user-provided. We do not routinely review user-saved content before sending, but we may review it to address abuse, comply with law, or protect users.
- If you receive an email because someone added you as a Trusted Contact, you can ask us to block future emails at notice@demumuu.com.
1. Who we are
Welcome to Demumuu (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Demumuu provides a safety check-in service designed to offer peace of mind by notifying your trusted contacts if you fail to check in on your schedule after your chosen grace period.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our mobile application and website.
2. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide to us
We collect information you directly enter into the app to make the service work:
- Account & Schedule Settings: Your check-in schedule preferences and alert thresholds (grace period).
-
Trusted Contacts: The names and email addresses of the people you wish to notify.
Note: We do not automatically access your device’s full contact list. - Emergency Note / Message (Optional): An optional message included in an alert email when an alert triggers (if you chose to add one).
B. Consent regarding third-party data
By adding Trusted Contacts, you represent that you have obtained permission from those individuals to share their details with us for the purpose of sending Demumuu notices and alerts.
C. Automatically collected information
- Check-in & Alert Activity: Timestamps of check-ins and alert events; email delivery status (e.g., sent/bounced) may be recorded for reliability and abuse prevention.
- Device & Log Data: Technical logs for debugging and security, which may include IP address and crash logs.
D. Analytics (Optional)
We may use stability tools like crash reporting. We do not use third-party analytics for behavioral advertising.
E. Information related to email recipients (Trusted Contacts)
If you are a Trusted Contact (email recipient), we may process:
- your name (if provided by the user) and email address (to deliver notices/alerts), and
- limited records related to delivery and abuse prevention (e.g., timestamps and delivery status), and
- requests you send us (e.g., to block future emails or report misuse).
3. How We Use Information
We use information for specific, functional purposes:
- To operate the check-in service and monitor your schedule.
-
To send automated emails to your Trusted Contacts, including:
- a notice that they were added as a Trusted Contact, and/or
- an alert if you miss check-ins and your grace period expires.
- To prevent fraud, misuse, harassment, or scams.
- To maintain security, reliability, and improve service quality.
- To respond to requests from email recipients (e.g., blocking future emails or handling abuse reports).
5. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary:
- Account Data: Stored until you delete your account or request deletion.
- Trusted Contacts: Stored as part of your account settings until you remove them, delete your account, or we are required to block emails to a recipient upon request.
- Logs & Delivery Records: Typically retained for 30–90 days for security, reliability, and debugging (unless longer retention is required for abuse prevention or legal compliance).
- Block Requests: If a recipient asks us to stop emails, we may maintain a minimal “block” record (e.g., email address and block status) to honor the request.
You may request deletion of your data via settings or by contacting us.
6. Security
We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information. However, no method is 100% secure.
We recommend securing your device with a passcode or biometric lock.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on location, you may have rights including:
- Access & Correction: View and edit settings in the app.
- Deletion: Delete account via settings or contact us.
- Stop Alerts: Disable or pause your schedule.
- For U.S. residents: We do not sell your personal information.
If you are an email recipient (Trusted Contact)
If you receive Demumuu emails and do not wish to receive future emails:
- contact us at notice@demumuu.com and request that we block future emails to your address (either from a specific user or from Demumuu entirely, where applicable).
8. Children’s Privacy
Demumuu is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Data protection laws may differ by jurisdiction. By using our services, you understand that we may transfer information across borders and will take reasonable measures to protect it.
10. Important Safety Notice
Demumuu is NOT an emergency service.
- We do not contact emergency authorities (e.g., 911).
- Alert delivery depends on factors like internet connectivity, device battery, and email provider delivery.
- In case of immediate danger, call local emergency services directly.
11. Recipient Notice (Trusted Contacts & Email Recipients)
This section provides important information for people who receive Demumuu emails because a user added them as a Trusted Contact.
A. Why you may receive an email
Your email address was provided by a Demumuu user who added you as their Trusted Contact. The user may authorize Demumuu to send you automated emails when their configured alert conditions are met (for example, when they miss check-ins and their selected grace period expires).
B. Automated sending; user settings and user-provided content
Demumuu emails to Trusted Contacts are generally sent automatically based on the user’s settings. Any optional message or “Emergency Note” included in an alert may be user-provided. We do not routinely review user-provided content in advance. However, we may review content or intervene to address abuse, comply with law, or protect users and recipients.
C. Relationship verification and authenticity
We do not verify your relationship with the user (e.g., family, friend, colleague), and we cannot confirm that the user’s identity or message is accurate. We encourage you to verify any concerns through a trusted channel (e.g., calling the user directly).
D. Scam and safety warnings
Be cautious of scams, harassment, or misleading content. In particular:
- never send money or provide bank details, ID numbers, passwords, or verification codes;
- be cautious with requests that promise high returns or ask you to meet offline in suspicious circumstances.
E. Links, attachments, and device safety
If an email contains links or attachments, do not click or download anything you do not trust. Links may be phishing and attachments may contain malware.
F. International / cross-border considerations
If you and the user are in different countries or regions, you may be subject to local laws regarding data handling and communications. Please handle information responsibly.
G. User changes
Users may change their Trusted Contacts, messages, or alert settings at any time. Future emails may reflect their updated settings.
H. Reporting misuse or blocking emails
If you believe an email violates applicable laws or includes inappropriate content (e.g., harassment, threats, fraud, hate, violence), or if you do not want to receive future emails:
- contact notice@demumuu.com with relevant details (e.g., time received, the content, and your request).
We may take appropriate action, including blocking emails to your address and restricting accounts that abuse the service.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. You should review this page periodically for changes.
